Photo-Story Contest 2013

The African Studies Program is announcing our 2013 Photo-Story Contest! Submit photos from your study abroad experience in Tanzania (or any country you travel to following the program) for a chance to win prizes and be featured in ASP’s annual E-newsletter, and on the ASP website.
 
To qualify to enter, student MUST be
  1. A current student of University of Pittsburgh
  2. Enrolled in the African Studies Certificate Program
  3. Travelling to an African country in Summer 2013 for study Abroad
 
What to enter:
You may submit up to one (1) amateur photo that you took per any 3 category. You may enter photos into more than one category, but you may only enter a total of three photos. Specify category in photo description on submission form. The categories are:
 
  1. Academics: What students are learning and how they’re learning it.
  2. Daily Life: Pictures that document the extraordinary or unseen in the ordinary, or cast a new perspective on everyday life.
  3. Nature/Landscapes: Pictures of wildlife, other aspects of the natural world, or landscapes. These images showcase outdoor beauty. Note: if you enter a photo into this category, please include the place name in the title or description of your photo.
  4. Travel Place: This category includes images that express the joys and adventures of travel photography, showcasing place as an important part of the photo. Note: if you enter a photo into this category, it's a good idea to include the place name in the title or description of your photo.
  5. Other: Student may come up with their own category but must be sure all contest rules are adhered to.
 
The photos should capture the student’s experience of the country. Write no less than 50 words EACH describing the experience captured in the pictures.
 
Prizes: Top 3 winners will…
  1. Win $25 gift card each
  2. Be featured in African Studies Program’s Annual E-Newsletter
  3. Have their pictures featured on ASP’s website
 
Please note:
  1. If you submit more than 3 photos, we will accept the first three and delete the others.
  2. You must turn in the contest entry form by June 14th 2013
  3. You may submit photos until August 30th, 2012. Any photos submitted after the deadline will be deleted.
  4. Your submission of photos gives African Studies Program the permission to use your photos in online and print publications, and may be used for display in the African Studies Program.
  5. Photos will be judged by members of the ASP Staff and/or faculty and contest winners will be announced on our website and Face book pages.
  6. Please review further contest rules. Once you submit that you have read and understand the rules and terms of the contest, you be entered into the contest
