
FINANCIAL AID ELIGIBILITY AND APPLICATIONS
Please carefully read the information below to learn about the financial aid and scholarships available at the University of Pittsburgh.
Eligibility
All recipients of scholarship aid administered by the Asian Studies Center must be enrolled in an approved course of study at the University of Pittsburgh leading to a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree. Both prospective and current students may apply, but all must enroll in the undergraduate or graduate Certificate Program in Asian Studies at the University of Pittsburgh.
Students who have already earned the graduate Certificate in Asian Studies and are pursuing further graduate work in Asian studies may also apply. Other requirements or special conditions may govern eligibility for specific awards. All recipients of scholarship aid administered by the Asian Studies Center must be enrolled in an approved course of study at the University of Pittsburgh leading to a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree. Both prospective and current students may apply, but all must enroll in the undergraduate or graduate Certificate Program in Asian Studies at the University of Pittsburgh.
Deadline
The deadline for receipt of 2013-2014 scholarship and fellowship applications is Monday, January 28, 2013 except where indicated under specific awards. See “Application Process,” and check for other deadlines under specific awards. The applicant is responsible for verifying that all application materials reach the Asian Studies Center office by this date. Incomplete files and materials received after the deadline will not be considered.

2013-2014 Application Process

To be eligible for consideration, applicants for all graduate and undergraduate scholarships and fellowships must complete the application form above and submit it together with the following materials.
Please submit the following with the 2013-2014 Financial Aid Application:
- Official transcripts of all college or university academic work
- Three letters of recommendation from professors or others familiar with the applicant's academic work (not only language study)
- A written statement (not to exceed five pages) summarizing the applicant's academic goals, career objectives, research interests, and specific plans for use of the award.
- Applicants for graduate scholarships and fellowships must also submit GRE scores and, if applicable, TOEFL scores.
The scholarships and fellowships described above are awarded on a competitive basis. Winners and alternates are selected by committees composed of members of the Asian Studies Center faculty.
Students may apply for more than one award at the time of application. In most cases recipients cannot hold more than one award covering the same time period. Some exceptions to this rule are made in the case of summer awards.
