ACRONYM GUIDE
- SHARE: Science Health Allied Research and Education
A service-oriented, non-profit NGO based in Andhra Pradesh, India. Founded by Dr. P.S. Reddy, Professor of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh, who serves as the Secretary General of SHARE.
The following are all SHARE-related projects:
- APAIDSCON: Andhra Pradesh AIDS Consortium
An association of medical colleges and hospitals in Andhra Pradesh, for implementation of HIV-Aids related projects, supported in part by grants from the United States Centers for Disease Control.
- CATCH: Community Access to Cervical Health
A joint project of MIMS (see below), Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and other institutions, with a goal of preventing cervical cancer in rural populations.
- MIMS: MediCiti Institute of Medical Sciences
A teaching medical college located near Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, founded in 2002 under the auspices of SHARE.
- REACH: Rural Effective Affordable Comprehensive Healthcare
A working model of a healthcare delivery system to provide preventive and primary healthcare to rural populations. REACH currently serves a population of more than 43,600 in Andhra Pradesh.
