Bell Yung has been director of the Asian Studies Center since January 2002. Along with his appointment with the center, he has maintained his position in the Department of Music, where he has been a professor of music since 1981. Dr. Yung received his PhD in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He received a second doctorate in music from Harvard University, focusing on ethnomusicology and specializing in the music of China.
