Post date: Friday, January 11, 2008 Confucius Institute welcomes new teachers The Confucius Institute at the Asian Studies Center would like to welcome two new teachers from Wuhan University our sister institution in China. Both teachers will be joining our staff for one year as visiting instructors of the Chinese language through support from China's National Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (Hanban).
Ms. Xiaofang Ouyang from Hunan Province is a PhD candidate in Applied Linguistics at Wuhan, and she will be representing CI-Pitt as a Chinese instructor at Upper St. Clair High School.
Ms. Zhi Zhang, a Wuhan PhD candidate in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language, will be placed as a Chinese language and culture instructor in the Greater Latrobe School District in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. Ms. Zhang is from Hubei Province, and will be working with St. Vincent's College, a partner in the Confucius Institute initiative.
The University of Pittsburgh's Confucius Institute is dedicated to promoting and enhancing the study of China, Chinese language and culture to all people in Pennsylvania and nationally.
