2009-10 Carl Malmberg Fellow Named
UCIS is pleased to announce that Mpho Letima has been named the Carl Malmberg Fellow for 2009-10. The Carl Malmberg Fellowship is offered in alternating years to provide 2 terms of non-degree education and professional development to a native of Lesotho, the African country where the fellowship's namesake served in the Peace Corps.

Mpho Letima

Mpho Letima is from Lesotho. She recently earned her Masters in Education in Research and Evaluation from the University of Botswana. She has been teaching high school for the last 15 years and has been a part time lecturer at the National University of Lesotho. As a teacher, she worked very closely with the United States Peace Corps. With a Peace Corps volunteer, she won a grant by the World Bank and USAID for a HIV/AIDS drama project. Students who were involved in this project leaned not only about the disease but they also became teachers and mentors to other students in surrounding schools and to the community at large. Mpho???s goals are to always be a teacher but also a researcher in educational issues to help solve some educational problems in Lesotho.
