Post date: Friday, October 16, 2009 The European Colloqium The European Colloquium - a research seminar related to European history, societies and culture - will resume meetings in the History Department this academic year. The group will convene about every four weeks during the academic year, usually on a Thursday afternoon, and discuss current or recently published research.
Complementing existing fora that have an emphasis on political science, the European Colloquium offers an opportunity to strengthen the intellectual exchange and collaboration between scholars in the humanities and social sciences whose work relates to Europe. Other colleagues from Western Pennsylvania and beyond will also join us on occasion.
Participants in the Colloquium will discuss works by faculty and graduate students on the basis of oral presentations or of written papers distributed in advance. Such papers should not exceed 40 pages double-spaced in length.
You are invited to participate in the European Colloquium as well as to further disseminate this information to all who may be interested. There may be new colleagues or students who work on Europe for whom this may be of interest Suggestions for papers and presentations are most welcome. Please contact me if you would like to share your research this semester, and/or be put on the mailing list.
Arpad von Klimo will run the colloquium in the spring semester, 2010.
