Objectives
As a result of this lesson, students will be able to:
- state basic facts about Brazil's geography, culture, and history.
- match clues about these facts and clues in a crossword puzzle.

Simpler, faster version
- List facts students know about Brazil as they are written on the chalkboard, chart paper, or a computer with LCD projector.
- Teach an introductory lesson about the country based on the information in the list of crossword puzzle clues with answers.
- Direct students to work individually, or in pairs, to complete the crossword puzzle.
- As a class, review the information adding to the chart started earlier. Encourage students to comment on facts that surprised or interested them.
Advanced version
- List facts they know about Brazil as they are listed on the chalkboard, chart paper, or a computer with LCD projector.
- In a computer lab, students, individually, or in pairs, research the sites listed above and solve the crossword puzzle. If the answers are provided, the puzzle is easier.
- As a class, review the answers and add facts to the list of what they already knew. Encourage students to comment on facts that surprised or interested them.
