Prospective Students

Dear Prospective Students and Parents,

Welcome to the University of Pittsburgh’s Center for Latin American Studies (CLAS).   At CLAS, we welcome students, parents, faculty, staff and community members who are interested in Latin America, the Caribbean, and Hispanic/Latino heritage communities in the U.S.   We sponsor classes, conferences and symposia, and provide funding for research, travel and study for our students and faculty.  CLAS helps to build strong ties between the university and the larger community by  organizing outreach events throughout the year, focusing on a wide range of topics, from arts and literature to politics, economics and the environment.   CLAS takes its role as a Center very seriously, bringing people interested in Latin America and the Caribbean together, and building a lasting sense of community.

Please browse our website for information about the more than 100 faculty  members and hundreds of students affiliated with the Center, the dozens of classes pertaining to Latin America each semester, our certificate programs, study abroad opportunities, student groups, funding opportunities, and more.  Please feel free to contact us for more information and  be sure to stop by our offices in Posvar Hall when you are on campus.
