Six leading research-based universities have joined forces to create a program that will promote collaborative teaching and research on issues related to the comparison of the United States and European Union as political, economic and legal systems.
The objectives of the project are to enhance scientific knowledge of the field of comparative EU-US studies, to educate a new generation of future academic and policy leaders in both the United States and the EU about the similarities and differences between the two systems, and to promote better understanding between the two sides. COMFED is funded by the European Union and the US Department of Education.
- Students from each institution can spend up to one semester at a transatlantic partner institution where they will follow a comparative syllabus specifically created for this program, and choose from a wide range of other graduate courses and internships relevant to their field of study.
- Students will have the opportunity to participate in an annual summer institute, an academic conference, and lectures by faculty members and policy-makers across the Atlantic.
- Travel and living grants are available for exchange students who qualify.
- Travel grants are available for students interested in attending the summer institute and conference.
