Bio

After finishing high school in Newark, Delaware, I attended the University of Chicago, where I became interested in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. Since 1999, I have been conducting fieldwork on ethnic and national identity in the Republic of Moldova. I came to Pittsburgh in 2004 as a visiting assistant professor in the Department of Anthropology, and joined the REES staff in September 2006. I am now enjoying the chance to participate in the “behind-the scenes” work of visitor-exchange programs.
