Internship Awards for Undergraduates

Next fall term REES will again offer several internship awards for undergraduates to support a for-credit or non-credit internship in Russian and East European Studies. Students receiving these awards will be paid during the Fall 2008 term, and are required to work at least 10 hours per week. REES Undergraduate Advisor Nadia Kirkov will work with the awardees to match them with current internship opportunities appropriate to their interests. Please note that you may apply to participate in an internship either at the University of Pittsburgh or in the community.

Eligibility
All applicants must:

  • Be full-time, degree-seeking undergraduates at the University of Pittsburgh.
  • Be enrolled in the REES Certificate Program.
  • Have completed two years of REES-area language study, or be a native speaker of Russian or another East European language.

Application
The deadline to apply for the Fall 2008 award is Tuesday, May 13, 2008. Applicants who make the “short list” will be interviewed by the selection committee. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that REES receives the following materials by the deadline:

  • Application form (also available in the REES office).
  • Transcript of all university academic work.
  • Resume of previous work experience.

Notification/Cancellation
Students will receive a letter at their current mailing address notifying them of the outcome of their application. If for any reason a selected candidate does not participate in the internship program for which the award was made, the full amount of the award must be returned to REES immediately.

More information can be viewed here.

If you have questions about the internship program,
please contact Nadia Kirkov at 412-648-7418 or nak19@pitt.edu.
