    Description:
    MWI is looking for an intern to assist with the following programs:

    Mobilizing Community: Community-based Volunteerism. This program will focus on young professionals from the US, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan and will entail assistance with development, implementation, and management of the program, working closely with the in-country partners, assisting with the professional and cultural programming for the delegation coming to Pittsburgh and planning of the in-country workshops. Knowledge of Russian language preferred.

    Intern responsibilities will also include assistance with researching and preparing grant opportunities for MWI, reports formulation, press releases, newsletters, website update, and support of office administrative operations, etc.

    The internship position will be available immediately until filled. Hours per week can be flexible depending on intern’s schedule and programmatic needs, but a minimum 10 hours per week is anticipated. Specific duties will be discussed in relation to intern’s areas of interest, previous experience, language capabilities, and internship requirements.

    The BMNECC is America's national center for the preservation and presentation of Bulgarian culture and art. Since its origins in 1930 the organization has been dedicated to education, community service, multi-cultural cooperation, and promotion of the arts. Its Otets Paissii Folk Ensemble performs regularly at venues in the Pittsburgh region and beyond. The Center offers members' programs in language, dance and music for children and adults and provides customized seminars for visiting groups, such as teachers, musicians, students, senior citizens and government leaders. The facility houses the largest collection of Bulgarian art, audio recordings, film, video, costumes, jewelry, textiles, books, artifacts and archives in the United States.  The BMNECC is a 501(c)3 organization that is supported by government agencies, businesses, private foundations, individuals, and also from earned income. 

    Duties:
    Interns would be responsible for:
    Translating archival and historic materials
    Organizing and cataloging artwork, photographs, documents and other archives

    Proficiency with digital technology (e.g., scanners) and Mac computers if highly recommended.

    Founded in 2002, the mission of the Ukrainian Cultural and Humanitarian Institute (UCHI) is to develop contacts between the USA and Ukraine on cultural, educational, and humanitarian levels.  It also serves to develop cross-cultural understanding between the people of the US and Ukraine.  UCHI has developed four professional exchange programs for delegates from Ukraine participating in the Open World Program and has published four unique in-house publications providing education to Ukrainian immigrants and to Americans about Ukraine and Ukrainians. 

    UCHI is looking for a Ukrainian-language intern to assist with a wide variety of tasks tailored to provide a well-rounded work experience.

    Duties:

    1. Catalogue materials donated to its Ukrainian Community Archives Program
    2. Assist with updating and marketing of UCHI publications
    3. Conduct oral history interviews with members of the local Ukrainian-American community
    4. Assist with the development of grant opportunities and development of internet-based training program
    5. Provide assistance to other Ukrainian community organizations with various projects
    6. Assist with database maintenance

    Established in 1867, the Polish Falcons of America is one of the largest Polish benefit fraternal organizations in the United States.  The only major Polish ethnic organization headquartered in Western Pennsylvania, the P.F.A. serves as a leader in Polish American cultural activities in our region as well as the major representative of Polish American issues both regionally and nationally.

    The Public Relations and Media Relations Intern will assist with day-to-day operations within the Communications Department, including serving as media liaison, generating press releases and assisting in the design of promotional events.  The intern will also assist in finalizing the production and promotion of a newly developed documentary film on the Polish Falcons of America and promotional publications.

    Our Museum Design Assistant will assist in researching relevant historic materials in the PFA archives and design related displays and exhibitions in the newly created Polish Falcons of America Museum.  The Museum Design Assistant will also assist in working with related Falcon groups and external organizations in promoting public access to these exhibitions.

    We are seeking a Web and Graphic Designer will work with the PFA Web Master to conceive ways to enhance the PFA Internet presence and increase member interest by building a dynamic, state-of-the-art web site.  This position will allow the candidate to employ HTML and CSS skills.

    The Communications Liaison Intern will assist with creating and developing relationships with other benefit fraternal organizations, ethnic cultural groups and related institutions in Western Pennsylvania, in the United States, as well as in Poland.  An interest and background in world cultures and international business would be beneficial; study in Eastern European affairs and knowledge of contemporary Poland would be desirable.
