Politics of the European Union

PS 2310/PIA 2383 Politics of the European Union
It's back.... and just in time!
A regional organization? A superstate? A global actor? What is the European Union (EU)?
This course is designed to give students the knowledge and tools to understand America's closest partner and fierce competitor- the European Union.
The course introduces the students to the historical development and current state of economic and political integration in Europe. Over the course of the semester, the students study and discuss theories of regional integration, institutions, policies and policy-making in the EU. Students are required to commit to extensive reading and be prepared to participate in class discussions. Other course requirements include oral class presentations, a mid-term exam, 6 short writing assignments, and one research paper.
This course has not been offered in three years, so don't miss out this time around!
