General Public Outreach Activities

The EUCE/ESC regularly offers events open to the general public. Events such as lectures, films, and seminars are publicized through many different channels including the center’s monthly newsletters, weekly email updates, Pitt newspaper ads and flyers. To be placed on the EUCE/ESC e-mail listserv or mailing list, please contact the Outreach Administrator.

Local Partnerships

The EUCE/ESC enjoys affiliations with numerous local organizations that share in the center’s mission to educate the public about Europe and the European Union. The center’s visiting European scholars and practitioners are frequently involved in community-related lectures, panels, conferences, as well as interviews for a variety of local organizations and businesses. Examples of Recent Activities

EUCE/ESC visitors have participated in the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh’s weekly radio show on KQV 1410am, spoken to local high schools, and engaged in a number of other activities organized in cooperation with the Council.

The center has worked with the Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh to promote local Holocaust Center events, and to cooperate on various projects including the exhibit of the paintings of Fritz Hirschberger, a Holocaust survivor. 

The center has collaborated with the World Federalist Association and the Center for International Legal Education to present the annual McClean Lecture Series.

The center has contributed funding to several annual European film series in collaboration with the film department at the Carnegie Museum of Art.
