European Union History — Provided by the University of Leiden, this information puts the EU into an historical context with extensive background material, bibliographies, and primary and statistical sources.

Inside the European Union — A BBC guide containing country profiles and timelines of key European events, a timeline of the EU, reference guides on current European topics, and an EU knowledge quiz.

Civitas EU Facts — A series of balanced single-page factsheets on the EU provided by the Institute for the Study of Civil Society, a non-party think tank.

Virtual Library for International Affairs — Provides a wealth of information along with other links for EU business and news.

EU Economics

European Central Bank — The ECB is the central bank for Europe's single currency, the euro. The ECB is responsible for maintaining the euro's purchasing power and price stability in the euro area.

European Investment Bank — The EU's financing institution. Raises funds for capital projects according to the objectives of the Union.

Euro Information — Website maintained by the Treasury of the UK concerning the single monetary unit of the EU.
