Integrated Field Trip Abroad

An Integrated Field Trip Abroad (IFTA) is a 10 to 14 day long study abroad experience that occurs at the end of the spring term. An IFTA is linked to a specific spring term course, and provides the teacher and students the opportunity to go and study in person what they have been studying throughout the term. IFTAs are typically worth 3 credits and count towards graduation requirements.

Spring term courses in the past that have had their own IFTAs are:

HIST 1124 Ireland – followed by an IFTA to Belfast, Ireland to interview people involved in conflict resolution and the “Good Friday Agreement”

HIST 1045 Socialism Versus Capitalism - followed by an IFTA to Prague, Czech Republic and Warsaw, Poland to study contemporary political and economic developments

Here are links to information about the two IFTAs we are sponsoring in spring/summer 2010:

CSD 1101 Introduction to Clinical processes in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology – followed by an IFTA to Dublin and Belfast, Ireland to examine assessment and health care delivery systems

HA&A 0030 Modern Architecture – followed by an IFTA to Vienna, Austria and Zagreb, Croatia to study the impact of new ideas on buildings and infrastructure
Students participating in our IFTAs are eligible to apply for the Harris Miller Integrated Field Trip Abroad (IFTA) Scholarship. Please click here for more information.
