Global Studies Director’s Discretionary Fund. Your gift to the University of Pittsburgh’s Global Studies Center (GSC) will help us prepare students for the global challenges of today and tomorrow.  The Director’s Discretionary Fund sustains the Center’s strategic goals and allows for quick responses to unusual opportunities. The Center promotes a broad portfolio of inquiry with foci in global health, global security, global economy and global society. It serves as the crucial nexus linking global-related research, curricular, and outreach activities of 12 schools and 24 departments across campus.   GSC is a competitively designated  U.S. Department of Education National Resource Center, one of 7 such centers in international studies in the United States.  Initiatives supported through the discretionary fund include financially eligible student support for PittMAP (Pitt’s global study-abroad semester); humanities-related workshops in global culture; research enhancement for young professionals from developing countries; lectures and teaching by visiting scholars on contemporary global issues; and new programs related to global health issues.  Help us strengthen and develop these initiatives.  Your support of any amount can make a difference in preparing the next generation for tomorrow’s complex global environment.
