| News/Events | Carl Malmberg Fellow for 2012-2013 Announced |
The 2012-2013 Carl Malmberg Memorial Scholarship in African Studies has been awarded to Ms. Lindiwe Seotsanyana from Lesotho. A social worker by training with extensive experience in the HIV-AIDS area, Ms. Seotsanyana has worked with non-governmental organizations and received extensive training in Japan. She will be in residence as a Malmberg Fellow during the fall 2012 term. Her Fellowship will include an internship at the Jewish Healthcare Foundation and an array of educational opportunities on Pitt’s Oakland campus. |

The University of Pittsburgh's Global Studies Center (GSC) is one of 11 nationally recognized centers in international studies, as designated by the U.S. Department of Education. GSC was established in 2001 as a joint offering of the University Center for International Studies (UCIS) and the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA). The Center fosters global competence of students, educators, and members of the community at-large. |

BRICS TodayTo meet student interests and time constraints, The University Center for International Studies at the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University collaborate to offer intensive courses on topics of interest, taught by expert faculty, with lectures from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon, followed by a research paper. The courses are 1 credit hour or 3 units for CMU students, with about 14 hours of lectures and an expected 30 hours of work for the paper. |

Global Studies students take courses in their chosen concentration, world region, and foreign language. Below you will find concentration course lists, links to regional course lists as maintained by UCIS area studies programs, and typical (commonly offered) foreign languages courses. Please note that courses are offered by various departments and schools across the University, which maintain the right to alter course offerings prior to the start of a new term. We update our GSC courselist as we are notified of changes, and we note the issue date in the top right of the cover page. |
