State and Local Government Internships
Every ECO-managed internship is a work-learning experience that achieves the dual goals of helping a sponsoring organization get critical project work done while helping an emerging professional launch a career. ECO recruits and places paid interns (called ECO Associates) on assignment at sponsoring organizations. Associates (individually or in groups) complete short-term, professional-level projects under the direction of a Project Advisor at each sponsoring organization. Through their projects, Associates put academic knowledge to work, build transferable professional skills, and gain real-life perspectives on career directions and options. The program, therefore, helps sponsoring organizations achieve their environmental goals while increasing the number and diversity of professionals working in the environmental field – results that achieve the charitable mission of The Environmental Careers Organization.
