In 2003 ECO established the Conservation Careers Diversity Internship Program to focus on providing exposure, training, and mentoring to students of color in the natural resource and conservation fields.  The Conservation Careers Diversity Internship Program is working with the Forest Service’s Multicultural Workforce Strategy Initiatives (MWSI) to recruit diverse students who are pursuing natural resource, environmental, conservation, and related science degrees.  Their goal is to offer these students an opportunity to gain practical, first-hand experience with natural resource management projects through the Student Temporary Experience Program (STEP) or Student Career Experience Program (SCEP).
