The symposium marks the publication of the book Music and Cultural Rights (University of Illinois Press, 2009), co-edited by Andrew Weintraub and Bell Yung. The speakers focus on issues raised in the book that include human rights, international law, cultural policy, and struggles for social justice, with music at the core of discussion.
