- Introduction to Asian Art
History of Art and Architecture 0020: This course will introduce the major artistic traditions of South and East Asia and will demonstrate the basic tools of analysis by which one may learn why the objects look the way they do. Some of the topics to be studied include: Hindu Gods and Temples, Art and Ritual in the Chinese Bronze Age, and the Cult of Japanese Tea. Upon completing the course, students will be familiar with important monuments in Indian, Chinese, and Japanese art and will know something about interpreting them. |
