Dr. Nicole Constable

Nicole Constable (Ph.D. U.C. Berkeley, 1989) is Professor of Anthropology, UCIS Research Professor, and core faculty member in Asian Studies and Women's Studies at the University of Pittsburgh. Her past research examined Hakka Chinese identity and Chinese Christianity. Her current research focuses on Chinese and Filipino transnational families, and marriage and divorce in relation to migration, globalization and concepts of modernity. She is currently working on a textbook (with Nancy Abelmann and Lynne Nakano) on gender in East Asia. Her publications include:
