Benefits for Teachers who successfully complete the requirements for the 30-hour NCTA Seminars:

  • $300 in stipends
  • $300 worth of instructional materials for their classrooms.
  • Professional development and/or graduate-level credits. (Pennsylvania teachers receive Act 48 credit hours)
  • Eligibility to participate in  a variety of in-county experiences in East Asia during the summer.

2010 NCTA Seminar at Bucknell University

"East Asia: A Seminar for Teachers"

In 2010, Mary Rice will lead the seminar: "East Asia: A Seminar for Teachers" at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA.

Teachers who participate in this content -rich 36-hour seminar for public and private school teachers of grades 6-12 will explore the geography, history, economics, politics, philosophy, art, literature, languages, and cultures of China, Japan, and Korea. The seminar will include engaging lectures by Bucknell faculty, and will include practical suggestions for classroom teaching.

Seminar Dates in 2010:

  • February 16, 23
  • March 2, 9, 16, 23, 30
  • April  6, 13, 20
  • There will be two three hour follow up sessions in the fall of 2010 (dates TBA).

Seminar Time: 6-9PM

Seminar Location: Coleman Hall at Bucknell University, Lewisburg, PA.
