Elizabethtown College

Benefits for Teachers who successfully complete the requirements for the 30-hour NCTA Seminars:

  • $300 in stipends
  • $300 worth of instructional materials for their classrooms.
  • Professional development and/or graduate-level credits. (Pennsylvania teachers receive Act 48 credit hours)
  • Eligibility to participate in  a variety of in-county experiences in East Asia during the summer. 
  • A one year subscription to the journal Education about Asia.

2010 NCTA Elizabethtown College Seminar at Berks County Intermediate Unit.

"East Asia: A Seminar for Teachers"

David Kenley will offer this content-rich seminar for public and private school teachers of grades 6-12.  This seminar is designed to provide a broad introduction to Asian culture and society. Participants will explore the history, geography, literature, and cultures of China, Japan, and Korea. Funding is provided by the Freeman Foundation, presented by Elizabethtown College, and hosted by the Berks County Intermediate Unit.

Application Deadline: December 18, 2009

  • January 25
  • February 1, 8, 22
  • March 1, 15, 22, 29
  • April 12, 19
  • Three follow-up sessions in Fall, 2010 (dates TBA)
