Seminar Locations: Bucknell University

 

In Spring of 2013, Mary Rice will lead the seminar: "East Asia: A Seminar for Teachers" at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA.

This content -rich seminar is for public and private school teachers of grades K-12 as well as school librarians who are able to include East Asia into their teaching. The 36-hour seminar will explore the geography, history, economics, politics, philosophy, art, literature, languages, and cultures of China, Japan, and Korea. It will include engaging lectures by Bucknell faculty, as well as time for group discussion of teaching materials and strategies for classroom teaching.

 

Seminar Dates in 2013:

• February: 19, 26
• March: 5, 12, 19, 26
• April: 2, 9, 16, 23
• There will be two three-hour follow-up sessions in the fall of 2013 (dates TBA).

Benefits for K-12 teachers who successfully complete the requirements for the 36-hour face-to-face NCTA Seminars include:

• In addition to earning 2 continuing education/in-service credits (60 Act 48 hours), each participant who completes the course and course requirements will receive the following:

• $300 worth of teaching materials for your school, including course textbook and a one year subscription to the journal Education about Asia

• $300 stipend at the completion of all coursework

• Eligibility to participate in a variety of in-county experiences in East Asia during the summer.
