2013 NCTA Seminar at Georgetown University
" Asia Days 2013"
Georgetown University is proud to be partnering with the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia (NCTA) to bring exciting new professional development opportunities to MD-DC-VA K-14 teachers, who are interested in expanding their knowledge on Asian history, culture, art, and current events. This seminar, "Asia Days 2013," has been specifically tailored to cover many of the East Asia topics in the MD-DC-VA middle and high school state curricula/standards of learning (SOLs). Bring your lessons on Asia alive for your students by enriching your understanding and appreciation for the region through this new professional development seminar.
This seminar is being co-sponsored by the NCTA coordinating sites at the University of Pittsburgh and the Program for Teaching East Asia at the University of Colorado.

March 23, 2013: Tour of the Freer-Sackler Gallery and in-Gallery Workshop - April 6, 2013: Comparing Chinese and Japanese Literary Arts
- April 20, 2013: The Cost of Japanese Imperialism in China, Korea, and Japan
- May 4, 2013: Contemporary Culture: China, Japan, Korea
- May 11, 2013: Contemporary Issues in Philosophies, Trade, and Aggression
Benefits for K-12 teachers who successfully complete the requirements for the 30-hour face-to-face NCTA Seminars include:

$300 worth of teaching materials for your school, including course textbook and a one year subscription to the journal Education about Asia

$300 stipend at the completion of all coursework

Eligibility to participate in a variety of in-county experiences in East Asia during the summer.
