Les pecheurs de perles has been produced in each Bulgarian opera house since the 1927 premier in Sofia. Between 1955 and 1995 it has proven to be popular in Ruse, Stara Zagora, Varna, Plovdiv, Burgas and Pleven in addition to Sofia. The performance presented here monaurally by the Ruse Opera in 1957 features Nikolai Zdravkov as Nadir, Kiril Krastev as Zurga and Penka Marinova as Leila, all singing in Bulgarian.
