Penka Marinova, soprano The soprano, Penka Marinova, was born 7 January 1929 in Novi Pazar. In 1948 she graduated from musical studies in Varna as a student of Vesselina Zaferova.
In 1948 she became a member of the Varna Opera chorus. In 1949 she joined the Opera Company of Burgas as a soloist. Her debut was in 1949 as Violetta with the Varna Opera. International appearances took the soprano to Russia and Roumania.
Major roles in her career included Butterfly, Marguerite, Micaela, Manon, Gilda, Norina, Adina and Tatyana.
