The soprano, Ekaterina Apostolova, was born in Sofia on 17 November 1917. She graduated from the State Academy of Music as a student of Ludmila Prokopova in 1914. Her debut with the Sofia National Opera in 1914 was as Gilda in Rigoletto.

Again, between 1942-45 she continued her studies in Berlin as a student of F. Loman. She returned to Bulgaria in 1945 and became a member of the Sofia National Opera. In 1949 the soprano performed Gilda in Bucharest and in Slovakia.

In addition to performing many concerts of opera arias, major roles in her career included Rosina, Lucia, Konstanza, Queen of the Night and Oscar in the Masked Ball.
