Petar Gougaloff, tenor

The tenor Petar Gougaloff began his studies with Christo Brambarov in Bulgaria and then in Germany with Helge Roswaenge and Rudolf Dressimair. His debut at the Berlin State Opera came in 1960 as Turiddu.

After singing in Brunswick he returned to the Berlin State Opera in 1965 and began a long career there. Since 1976 he has been a member of the German Opera Berlin. He has appeared with the Sofia National Opera, the Prague Opera and the Paris Grand Opera. Additional engagements took the tenor to Hamburg, Munich, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Zurich and the Bolshoi in Moscow. In the United States he appeared with the San Francisco Opera. He was a guest soloist at the Festivals of Edinburgh and Maggio Musicale Florence.
