The baritone Niko Isakov was born 21 February 1960 in Sofia. He graduated from the State Academy of Music in 1989 as a student of Sabin Markov. In 1989 he was engaged as a principle soloist with the Varna Opera. His debut was there on December 15, 1989 singing Mecho in Lud Gidia by Hadjiev.

In 1992, singing Marcello in La Boheme, he toured Germany, England, France and Norway with a touring opera company. He returned to Varna in 1993. In 1994 Isakov was engaged by the Sofia National Opera and has become their leading baritone. He has toured with then to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France, England, Egypt and Brazil.

Major roles include Marcello, di Luna, Germond, Renato, Escamillio, Figaro, Almaviva, Tzar Kaloyan and Rodrigo. He also teaches at the State Academy of Music.
