The soprano, Elisaveta Jovovich, was born 23 March 1901 in Sofia. In 1924 she graduated from the Secondary Music School in Sofia as a student of Penka Toromanova.
Her debut on April 16, 1924 with the Sofia Opera was as Mignon. In 1927 she continued her vocal education in Rome at Santa Cecilia, where she graduated with excellent results. During her training there she sang performances of Mimi in Boheme. Between 1927-28 she continued her specialization in Paris. After her second debut at the Sofia Opera she made guest appearances in Rome between 1927-1932.
Between 1937 and 1942 she was a soloist with the Sofia Opera in addition to making guest appearances in Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia and Germany. From 1945-49 she was a soloist with the Stara Zagora Opera and between 1949-1952 with the Ruse Opera.
After 1952 she worked as a vocal coach and assistant director of the Sofia Opera. Major roles in her career included Pamina, Salome, Herodiade, Gergana, and Yana in the opera Yana's Nine Brothers by Pipkov.
