Aleksei Milkovski, bass

The bass, Aleksei Milkovski, was born 26 November 1925 in Gabrovo. After singing in the chorus of the Sofia National Opera he began vocal studies with Petar Raichev and Michail Popov.

In 1949-53 he was a member of the Ruse Opera and from 1953 he was a member of the Plovdiv Opera. He had many guest appearances throughout Bulgaria and was a frequent soloist with the Sofia National Opera. International appearances took the bass to China, Russia, Slovakia and Hungary.

Major roles in his career included Don Pasquale, Gremin, Scarpia, Osmin, Sarastro, Rocco in Fidelio, Bartolo and Basilio.
