Blavgorograd Opera, 1980, sung in Bulgarian

The opera

Part 1: On his perch, the cock boasts of his prowess. The fox enters in religious garb, imploring the bird to confess his sins. Reluctantly, the cock jumps down and is saved by the cat and goat.

Part 2: Back on his perch, the cock recognizes the undisguised fox and rejects his flattery until, succumbing, he jumps down again and cries out as the fox begins to remove his feathers. The cat and goat sing to the fox that his vixen is wayward, distracting him long enough to strangle him, whereupon the three rejoice.
