Socio-Ecological Union is an international NGO centered in Moscow. Organization deals with ecological issues primarily, but also with organizing civil society. Members include most members of Commonwealth of Independent States, plus some Western countries. Includes access to Union publications, online documents, books and brochures. The Baltic University Programme is a network of more than 170 universities and other institutes of higher learning throughout the Baltic Sea region, coordinated by the Baltic University Programme Secretariat at Uppsala University, Sweden. The Programme focuses on questions on sustainable development, environmental protection and democracy. The aim is to support the key role that universities play in a democratic and peaceful development.

Russian Nature Press is a publisher of books translated from Russian about the wildlife and natural history of Russia and the other CIS countries.

ReliefWeb is a project of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). It includes up-to-date information on natural and man-made disasters and emergencies where relief efforts are underway or needed. Individual pages include detailed chronologies, documents, news stories, updates, etc. The site also provides maps and a full search engine. In English.

Site of the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC), a non-partisan, non-advocacy, not-for-profit organization with a mission to assist in solving environmental problems in Central and Eastern Europe. The Center fulfils this mission by encouraging cooperation among nongovernmental organizations, governments, businesses and other environmental stakeholders, by supporting the free exchange of information and by promoting public participation in environmental decision making. The Earthwatch Institute, an international non-profit organization, sponsors scientific field research around the world. Included in its catalog at any one time are likely to be several projects in the REES area. The organization seeks volunteers to participate. The Okno Group provides information on environmental and health care policy in Eastern Europe, Russia & Central Asia. Provides access to the archives of various newsletters, including "Environment & Health Observer" and "East/West Letter." In English.
