2002 Symposium Awards

For each panel of students, two faculty members and one advanced graduate student with undergraduate teaching experience were selected to be judges. The criteria for judging papers and presentations were distributed to participants prior to the submission of their final papers. The judges read and scored the students' papers prior to the event. During the panels, they listened to each student's presentation and asked questions. Awards were based on both the papers and presentations.

The prizes were awarded at the closing ceremony of the symposium, held in the Lower Lounge of the William Pitt Union. The recipient of the grand prize received $500, the first prize awardees received $300 each, the second prize winners received $150, and “honorable mention” recipients received a $50 gift certificate to the University Book Center.
