Rolling deadline. Applications are reviewed the first week of each month (unless the university is in recess). Please apply at least two months in advance of the event if your request is only for funding. If you would like ASC assistance with the event, please apply as far as possible in advance.

Full-time and part-time tenure-stream, tenured and non tenure-stream faculty (including lecturers, adjunct faculty, and contract faculty) at all Schools, Departments, Centers, Institutes and Campuses on the University of Pittsburgh are eligible to submit proposals. Please contact the Japan Council Speaker Committee chair with your proposal before submitting (below). The Speaker Committee can pre-approve your application, which will speed up the process of approval. (Current chair is Dr. Charles Exley: firstname.lastname@example.org).
Faculty must submit an application here and upload:
- 1-2 typed proposal describing the goals of the project and a rationale for the items requested.
- Itemized budget of expected project costs including the exact time period when funds will be needed. You may use the budget template here or create a similar itemized budget.
- Basic event request form (found here), describing proposed funding sources and an overview of what assistance will be requested from the Asian Studies Center. We will do our best to assist you with your event, but please understand that there may be times that we are unable to accommodate requests.
- A completed ASC Funding Request Form.
