Korean Studies Graduate Student Conference Presentation Grants

Applicants must apply before conference dates. Applications will be accepted Sept. 15, Dec. 1, March 15, July 15. If you are accepted for a conference after one deadline but before the next one, please contact Emily Rook-Koepsel (rookkoepsel@pitt.edu)


Grant is available to MA and doctoral students in Korean studies. Priority is given to first-time applicants.

Application should be submitted BEFORE the conference takes place. Application materials should all be submitted online to the email below and should include:

  • Identifying information: Student Name, PeopleSoft ID number, School and Department, applicant's Home and campus addresses, name and e-mail address of adviser
  • A cover letter that briefly explains (a) the name of the conference you will attend, (b) paper title, panel title, and a brief abstract of the paper, (c) evidence of conference paper acceptance
  • A brief letter of support from the applicant's main adviser. Please remind your faculty to submit the recommendation online to Emily Rook-Koepsel at rookkoepsel@pitt.edu.
  • A detailed budget listing costs of travel, lodging, meals, conference registration, and incidentals
