Eligibility:
Students must be enrolled in an approved degree program at the University of Pittsburgh. Awards must be used in conjunction with a specific research project on the Southeast Asia and/or the Pacific. Students who receive the award will be asked to supply the Southeast Asia and the Pacific Council with a short (2 paragraph) summary of the results of the research the grant supported within one year of receipt of the award.
Priority is given to first-time applicants who are in their early stage of dissertation research. Priority is also given to students in a doctoral program, although MA students may apply.

- Application form
- Transcripts from each undergraduate and graduate program attended
- A 1200 word project proposal that outlines: the questions you seek to answer, the methods you will use to address them, your preparation to carry out proposed research, a timeline for completion of proposed research activities, and the format in which you plan to present results.
- A detailed budget listing costs of travel, lodging, meals, supplies, and incidentals (such as museum fees if applicable, or the like)
- A short letter of recommendation and support from your academic advisor
- A current CV or Resume
