Panoramas Internships

Panoramas is a space for students to foster academic discussion among students and faculty about Latin America. This innovative project is a perfect place for students to develop their technical skills and publish their work in an academic forum. The Panoramas project is hosted by the Center for Latin American Studies (CLAS) and maintained by the students in its certificate programs.  Deadline: April 15, 2022 (Year-long, Summer 2022, and Fall 2022 semester-long internships). The application for Spring 2023 for credit (unpaid) Panoramas internship is December 14, 2022.

Responsibilities

The Panoramas Interns will work with the Graduate Student Advisor and the Assistant Director for Academic Affairs. There will be two types of Panoramas Interns:

Advanced Panoramas Internship (Year-long)

The Panoramas Year-long internship is for students who have demonstrated skills on writing, editing, managing roundtables, and working on special projects. Students will write anywhere from 10-15 articles, will manage at least one roundtable per semester, and will be available for special projects. These students will be required to work at least 10 hours a week with a maximum of 20 hours with approval from the supervisor. Students in the internship have to be enrolled in one of the certificates or related concentration of the Center for Latin American Studies (CLAS). During the internship students will work closely with the Graduate Student Panoramas Coordinator and Assistant Director for Academic Affairs.

 

Requirements:

  • ability to work independently.
  • strong writing skills.
  • good organization skills.
  • Editing capability.
  • Ability to work in a team setting.
  • familiarity with social media.

NOTE: Only students enrolled in or planning to enroll in a credential with the Center for Latin American Studies will be considered for the position.

Panoramas Interns (Credit based | semester-long)

The main duty of the interns will be to write articles for Panoramas and work on roundtables (work with the rest of the Panoramas team). There will be 12 hours a week for 10 weeks (at least 10 of these hours should be at the Center and the remainder of the hours may be remotely, with a schedule to be agreed with the Assistant Director for Academic Affairs), Interns will be required to present a reflection at the end of the internship.

  • ability to work independently and in teamwork.
  • strong writing skills.
  • good organization skills.
  • Editing capability

NOTE: Only students enrolled in or planning to enroll in a credential with the Center for Latin American Studies will be considered for the position.
