The European Studies Center bids a fond farewell to its Director of five years, Ron Linden. Dr. Linden shepherded the Center through its successful bids to become a Title VI National Resource Center for European Studies and a Jean Monnet Center of Excellence. He created one of our signature programs, Conversations on Europe, which expands access to in-depth discussions of current events in Europe using video conferencing technology. Under Dr. Linden’s leadership, the ESC won two EUCE Network Excellence in Outreach Awards (for the Conversations on Europe and the High School Model EU) and created two innovative new credentials: the Related Concentration in European Studies (just launched) and the Transatlantic Studies Certificate (pending approval; stay tuned). We will miss Dr. Linden’s dedication, willingness to “leave it all on the field,” and sense of humor – those ineffable qualities that made him a wonderful Director and colleague. We wish him all the best as he returns full time to his research and teaching. Farewell, Ron!
