Internship in Education

COVID-19 Response

COVID-19 Response: Learn how the European Studies Center is working under the current operational posture at ucis.pitt.edu/esc/covid.

Through the Partnership for Advanced Globalized Education (PAGE) in collaboration with the School of Education, the ESC offers 3-credit internships for Pitt undergraduates interested in secondary social studies or language studies education with a particular focus in Europe, European cultures, people, history, and contemporary issues. Preference will be given to undergraduates who are currently enrolled in one of the ESC’s certificate programs.

Under the supervision of Center staff, a graduate student in the School of Education’s Masters of Teaching program, and a School of Education faculty member, interns will develop a unit plan related to Europe or the EU suitable for secondary social studies or language studies classrooms in Pittsburgh area schools. In addition to the unit plan, interns will complete several classroom observations and reflections, co-teach three to four lessons with their MAT graduate student supervisor, and complete a portfolio detailing those teaching materials, lessons, and classroom experiences.

The Internship in Education program takes place each spring semester. View the application.

Application deadline for Spring 2021 placements TBD.
