This collaborative and hands-on professional development workshop aimed at North Allegheny Senior High School teachers will guide educators in the creation of a comprehensive and engaging Global Studies curriculum for grades 6-12. The workshop will explore strategies to enhance students’ understanding of global issues, intercultural perspectives, and critical thinking skills. This workshop will provide tools, resources, and collaborative opportunities to help teachers create an inspiring Global Studies curriculum that meets the needs of today’s students and encourages them to be thoughtful global citizens. Participants will leave with a toolkit of ready-to-use materials and a clear action plan to implement in their classrooms.

Workshop Highlights:

Curriculum Framework: Gain insight into structuring a cohesive Global Studies curriculum aligned with state standards and tailored to the needs and interests of North Allegheny students.

Content Selection: Identify core themes, case studies, and current global issues to incorporate across grade levels, ensuring that students gain both foundational knowledge and depth in key areas.

Skill Development: Learn to integrate skills such as critical thinking, comparative analysis, and digital literacy, preparing students for college, career, and civic life in a globalized world.

Diverse Perspectives: Discuss methods for incorporating diverse viewpoints, indigenous knowledge, and underrepresented histories to cultivate empathy and inclusivity.

Resource Sharing and Collaboration: Exchange resources, lesson ideas, and strategies with fellow educators to create a dynamic and adaptable curriculum.
