A talk reflecting on the war on Iran and the Greater Middle East. The talk will be delivered by Sami Hermez, Professor of Anthropology at Northwestern University in Qatar.
Professor Hermez is the author of:
War Is Coming: Between Past and Future Violence in Lebanon (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2017), which examines the everyday life of political violence in Lebanon
My Brother, My Land: A Story from Palestine (Stanford University Press, 2024), an award‑winning book that tells the story of a Palestinian family resisting ongoing Israeli settler colonialism

Professor Hermez has also served as the UCIS Visiting Professor in Contemporary Global Issues.

The discussion will be joined by Michael Goodhart, Professor of Political Science, University of Pittsburgh.
