Professor in the Graduate Program in History at the Universidade Federal Fluminense - UFF (Fluminense Federal University) and researcher at the Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico -CNPq  (National Council for Scientific and Technological Development). She holds a Bachelor's degree in History from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro), a Master's degree in History from UFF, and a PhD in Social Sciences from Universidade Estadual de Campinas - UNICAMP. Her research interests include the history of Indigenous peoples, interethnic relations, and ethnic identity. She is the author of the books  Metamorfoses Indígenas - Identidade e Cultura nas Aldeias Coloniais do Rio de Janeiro  (Indigenous Metamorphoses: Identity and Culture in the Colonial Villages of Rio de Janeiro) (Rio de Janeiro: FGV,2013) and Os Índios na História do Brasil (Indigenous Peoples in the History of Brazil) (Rio de Janeiro: FGV, 2010).
