The Asian Studies Center at the University of Pittsburgh and the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute invite you to join us for a 2-hour lesson on Japanese ink painting techniques with Ms. Koto Muto, an accomplished artist from Handa City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, with over 50 years of experience in sumi-e ink painting techniques and international exhibitions. You'll learn or refresh the basic techniques for ink painting and will receive a Japanese-style uchiwa fan to display your artwork upon! Whether you have some previous experience or you'll be trying this art for the first time, you're welcome to join us!
Also being offered Thursday, October 14, 5:00-7:00 p.m. in 4625 Posvar Hall.
There are 2 sessions offered this year - the Thursday session is open to anyone, the Friday session is geared towards Osher Lifelong Learning Institute students; however, if you can only make one session, you are welcome to sign up for either group!
The cost of this session is $5.00 for Asian Studies certificate students and $10.00 for general attendance, which covers all necessary materials including brushes, rice paper, an uchiwa fan, etc. This is payable by check (preferred method, written to 'University of Pittsburgh') or cash by THURSDAY, OCTOBER 14 at noon. Students who may have difficulty with payment may request a fee waiver. See registration below for details.
