The preservation of ethnic minority languages has been a burning issue in many countries that have diverse ethnicities. China is no exception. This study focuses on the government's language policies and the impact of those policies on minority bilingual education in China, particularly the usage of minority languages in school education. The present dilemma involves the government's language policies, educational practices, ethnic minority parents' choices, future educational and job opportunities for ethnic minority children, and the preservation of ethnic minority languages and cultures. Suggestions for changing language policies and educational practices have been proposed.
