Sidney Mintz is a distinguished anthropologist whose scholarship has shaped how we think about the social, cultural, and political impact of colonialism, the interface of anthropology and history, and the correlation between food, material, culture, and power. He is the author of many significant publications, including books such as Worker in the Cane: A Puerto Rican Life History; Sweetness and Power: the Place of Sugar in Modern History; Tasting Food, Tasting Freedom: Excursions into Eating, Culture and the Past; and Three Ancient Colonies.
